I think they are probably antique based on the look of them and their patina but I can't say for sure. The iron has then been coated in some kind of thin plaster and painted gold.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are some spots of wear and you can see the gold and plaster have flaked off in spots here and there. There are some slight wax remnants remaining in the hole holder parts. I tried to clean out as much as possible but didn't want to scratch the gold paint off too much. However, when I specifically researched Carl Gebauer pottery, the stamping was similar but didn't seem to take up the whole base of the pot. The font was the same but it was off to a small side of the base. However, it was still stamped with a number code as well as Germany and the font looks the same. Maybe the stamping changed at some point and that’s why it has a different placement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSince I'm really not sure if this is Carl Gebauer or not, I am listing this as Carl Gebauer-style and saying that although I think it is antique based on what I could find online, it might possibly just be vintage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEither way, it's a nice piece of German pottery!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are a few spots where the top glaze didn't adhere to the clay pottery underneath. See photo gallery to where I point it out.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGuido Gambone (1909-1969) is known as one of the most influential ceramists of the mid-20th century. You can find his pieces in museums, galleries, and in private collections worldwide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBetween 1939 to 1950 he shared a studio with his brother and their friend in Vietri, Italy. In 1950, he moved to Florence and opened his own studio (La Terrena) which would remain open until 1967, closing two years before his death.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt La Terrena, Gambone began adding the donkey marking to his pieces. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI have done hours of research on his pieces and am fairly certain that he didn’t make duplicates of items. I found some other divided bowls and also found other pieces that were done in this yellow\/brown line style but no other divided bowls done in this style. This is a one of a kind piece and Gambone’s pottery, especially pieces stamped with the donkey marking, are extremely valuable and sought after, selling for high prices online.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe other pieces of pottery that were done in this style (yellow with brown lines) were listed as being made in the 1950s (one was 1959) so I am assuming this one was also made in the 1950s as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are faint pink undertones to the glaze and this dish is wonderfully stunning. It has a beautiful weight and texture to it. You can feel the quality when you hold it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGambone was known for making beautiful yet functional pieces so perhaps this bowl was originally meant as an olive dish, where you could put whole olives on one side and the pits on the other.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStamped: Donkey Marking \/ Gambone \/ Italy\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e8\" long by 5.25\" across the bigger dish side and 4.25\" across the smaller dish side.
