When I first found this I thought it was a cute bucket with lid but upon further research it looks like it might be a steamed pudding mold. You can put your batter inside the pot, close the lid, and steam the pudding to cook it.
If you don't want to use it for baking, I think this would make a great container with lid, you could also use it as a mini compost bucket for your kitchen/kitchen counter, or you could use it as an ashtray for your porch with a sealed lid to keep everything contained.
Some steamers online have a tube in the centre like a bundt cake mold but this doesn't have a tube in the centre. I'm not sure if it ever had one.
The lid seals with the clips on two sides and there is a handle on the lid.
Stamped on the lid: Made in ... Germany. I think the blank area that is worn off is West because there is a space for another word and when I research online, this looks like a West German mold
