Tunbridge ware is a type of woodwork that comes from the English towns of Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells. This delicate inlaid woodworking style is typically seen in boxes and consists of very tiny pieces of differently coloured wood being laid out in a mosaic pattern.
I found similar designs to this box online, in various sizes, and they were all labelled as antique and likely dating to the end of the 1880s/beginning of the 1900s. Based on this research, I assume this box is from the same time period.
Tunbridge ware sells for high prices online, into the hundreds of dollars. The ones I found of similar look and size online were priced between $120-$150 CDN.
This box opens on its hinges easily and can stay open on its own. There is a thin crack on the wood by the back corner on the right side but it doesn't impact use. The price is reflective.
Just over 3.5" by just under 3" and almost 1.5" tall.

LOCAL DELIVERY is available for Hamilton, Burlington, Dundas, Ancaster, and Stoney Creek residents. The delivery price starts at $7.00 and increases based on your postal code location. Minimum purchases are also necessary, based on postal code location. When you check-out, select SHIP, and if you meet the minimum purchase requirement, you will be able to select local delivery instead of shipping. If you don't meet the minimum purchase requirement, you won't be able to select delivery.
