When I first found this red bar, I thought it was a nice colour and very heavy and solid. I thought it would make a great candle holder.

After doing a little research, I discovered that this is a very rare dumbbell weight handle and Watson refers to Whipper Billy Watson.

According to Wikipedia; "William John Potts was a Canadian professional wrestler best known by his ring name "Whipper" Billy Watson. He was a two-time world champion, having held both the National Wrestling Association title and the National Wrestling Alliance title."

I came across a blog called OldTimeStrongman.com and they wrote a short piece about these bars. See the photo gallery for that description, but they do mention these bars are very rare. I couldn't find any being sold online.

You could use this bar as general decor or as a candle holder like I have done, but it also is a great piece of vintage sports memorabilia and would make a nice gift for a weightlifter, boxer, or wrestler fan. Alternatively, use it for its intended purpose as a weight handle!

Stamped: Watson

Almost 6" tall and 2.5" across. The hole in the middle is 1" across and the entire centre hole is hollow.
