An antique piece from prior to 1869, which is when the artist died. There is a short blurb typed up and pasted to the back of the frame which appears to have been done by someone related to the original artist.
In the 1800s it was popular to hand colour botanical studies with watercolours or gouache and I found some similar pictures online from the same time period, done sometime in the mid-1850s. That falls in line with what is written on the back as the artist would have painted this prior to 1869.
This is a very old piece with patina and spots of wear. The frame has a raised edge at the top but it is only visible from the back and isn’t anything major.
The picture sits behind glass in a wood frame. There is a rope on the back for hanging. I have left the original backing but put in a few new frame tackers to better support. It still has a lot of the original nails, though.

PICKUP is available in TWO Locations:
- Hamilton (Gage Park neighbourhood)
- Niagara Falls (6289 Huggins St. at The Vintage Venture) - We need to physically bring orders with us when we visit our booth. Wait time is 1-2 weeks for this option. Please reach out if you have any questions.

LOCAL DELIVERY is available for Hamilton, Burlington, Dundas, Ancaster, and Stoney Creek residents. The delivery price starts at $7.00 and increases based on your postal code location. Minimum purchases are also necessary, based on postal code location. When you check-out, select SHIP, and if you meet the minimum purchase requirement, you will be able to select local delivery instead of shipping. If you don't meet the minimum purchase requirement, you won't be able to select delivery.
